3 large granny smith apples
1/3 cup of sultanas
1/4 block of butter
2/3 cup of brown sugar
2/3 cup of coconut
2/3 cup of whole rolled oats
1/4 cup plain flour
nutmeg or cloves
Cut up the apples and place them with the sultanas in a pie dish or square baking tray. If you’re using cloves, sprinkle it over the apple otherwise put the spices in the crumble.
Mix sugar and butter together in a bowl.
Add coconut, oats, flour and spices, stir in thoroughly.
Place the crumble mixture on top of the apple and bake at 180C for about 30 – 35 minutes.
If you’re making this as a desert, you can add a little extra sugar and butter. I really like this stuff with organic yogurt and fresh berries for breakfast. It has less sugar and fat than a lot of commercial cereals and you know what’s in it.
For variation use diced dates in with the apple instead of sultanas. You can also put crushed almonds or hazelnuts in the crumble.
